NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) Global self-funded non profit organization which is established 1896. It is devoted to eliminating economic loss, property damage, injury & death due to electrical, fire & related hazards.
NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) hazard identification system for emergency responders. Before chemical manufacturers used NFPA diamond on their product but now use GHS labelling.
GHS – Globally harmonized system of classification and labeling of chemicals.
The NFPA Diamond consists of 4 color coded fields which are as follows:
Blue – Represent – Health Hazard
Red – Represent – Flammability
Yellow – Represent – Reactivity
White – Represent – Special Hazard
Numbering scale starts from 0 to 4.
0 value – Represent – NO Hazard
4 value – Represent – Extreme Danger
Note : NFPA are opposite of GHS.
Higher value in the NFPA system – Higher Hazard
Why NFPA system is designed?
To convey safety information to emergency first responders.
Example : Fire Fighters.

Red Diamond – Flammability
Flash point
4 – Below 73 degree F
3 – Below 100 degree F
2 – Above 100 degree F & below 200 degree F
1 – Above 200 degree F
0 – Will Not Burn
Yellow Diamond – Reactivity
4 – May Detonate
3 – Shock & Heat may detonate
2 – Violent chemical change
1 – Unstable if heated
0 – Stable
White Diamond – Special Hazard
Acid
Alkali
Corrosive
